Why Grass-Fed Beef Sticks Are the Healthier Choice

Grass-Fed Beef Sticks

Grass-fed beef has a lower fat content than conventionally raised meat and is richer in nutrients, including antioxidants, vitamins, and omega-3 fatty acids. It is also less likely to contain antibiotic-resistant bacteria than standard beef.

Serve jerky as part of an overall healthy eating pattern, with nutrient-rich whole foods, like veggies, and whole grains like black beans or sweet potato. This helps prevent sarcopenia, a deficiency in protein that leads to muscle loss with age.

Protein

Grass-fed beef sticks are high in protein, a great energy source. Protein also provides the body with essential amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. They are necessary for many bodily functions, including cell growth and repair, repairing muscle tissue, producing enzymes, hormone production, and maintaining healthy skin.

Adding 100% grass fed beef sticks to your diet can help you achieve the recommended daily allowance of protein. Grass-fed meat also contains an antioxidant known as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), believed to help decrease body fat, reduce cancer risk, and lower harmful cholesterol levels.

Grass-fed jerky contains more Vitamin B than conventionally raised meat and more vital minerals. These include vitamin A, which helps protect against eye disease and vision loss. It is also known to promote a healthy immune system and reduce the risk of respiratory infections. Additionally, it contains thiamin, niacin, folate, and Vitamin D.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Beef is red meat known to be unhealthy, but it can offer some benefits when consumed in moderation and from the right source. The diet of the cows has a significant impact on the nutrients that end up in their beef. Cows that are grass-fed have more heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids than grain-fed cows.

Omega-3s are the brain-boosting, heart-healthy fats found in nuts, seeds, fatty fish, and grass-fed beef. They are anti-inflammatory and can help reduce the risk of various health conditions, including cancer, high blood pressure, depression, arthritis, and other chronic diseases.

Grass-fed beef also contains less unhealthy saturated fat and trans fat than grain-fed beef. A study published in the Journal of Nutrition showed that when healthy volunteers ate red meat from animals raised on a grass diet, their levels of omega-3 fatty acids increased. In contrast, their levels of pro-inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids decreased. This healthier rich acid profile is similar to the diet of our ancestors and is why the o Diet recommends grass-fed beef over grain-fed meat.

Vitamins & Minerals

The grass-fed beef in these snacks has a wealth of vitamins and minerals. For example, it has Vitamin A, essential for eye health and can prevent age-related vision loss. It also helps combat certain forms of cancer and promotes a healthy immune system. It has Vitamin B1, essential for energy production, and Vitamins B3 and B6, which support heart health by lowering cholesterol and triglycerides.

Another essential nutrient found in grass-fed meat is iron, which contributes to normal blood cell formation and helps with brain function. Grass-fed beef also has high levels of zinc and copper, which are needed for a healthy immune system and are essential antioxidants.

When most people think of nutrient density, they think of fruits and vegetables, seafood, lean meats, eggs, quinoa, and kale. But they should also consider grass-fed beef, as it has higher nutrient density than meat from grain-fed animals. This is because grass-fed animals eat the food they evolved to eat, which has much more nutrients per calorie than foods that are designed to bulk them up quickly with grains.

No Antibiotics or Growth Hormones

Red meat turns many people off because of its high-fat content, but beef can be healthy if it comes from the right source and is eaten in moderation. Red meat contains high amounts of iron; eating it can help keep your blood cells strong.

Grass-fed beef is healthier than grain-fed beef because it has less saturated fat, fewer omega-6 fatty acids, and more omega-3 fatty acids. Those more beneficial fats are great for your heart and can help prevent depression, arthritis, and inflammatory diseases.

Additionally, grass-fed beef is never treated with antibiotics or growth hormones. This helps protect you from disease, promotes a healthy environment, and supports the microbes that enhance soil carbon storage. These beef sticks are made with only premium grass-fed beef, without any chemicals or additives, for a snack you can feel good about. They’re a perfect size for a backpack, purse, or pocket and are packed with umami flavor that’s just savory enough.

No Chemicals or Additives

Choose beef sticks from grass-fed cows to reduce calories and have more heart-friendly fats. Grass-fed meat has fewer calories than beef from grain-fed cows because it is lower in saturated fats and higher in monounsaturated fats. A six-ounce steak from grass-finished beef has 100 fewer calories than a steak from grain-finished meat.

Moreover, meat from animals that eat a grass diet has more heart-healthy conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which people who eat the animal absorb and store in their bodies. CLA has been shown to protect against the development of heart disease, reduce the risk of cancer, and have other health benefits.

Look for grass-fed jerky without added sugars, artificial colors or flavors, and additives like sodium nitrate and monosodium glutamate. Many processed meat products use sodium nitrate and monosodium Glutamate to preserve color and keep bacteria from growing, but they can harm your health. Instead, choose a grass-fed jerky brand that ferments the beef to make a shelf-stable snack free of these chemicals.
